I'll only mention the following 7 sections of verses, which are more relevant to teens/ YOYA, and give you 7 assignments for the week ahead.

v13-14 "If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant when they complained against me, what then shall I do when God rises up?"

If you have a maid at home, have you been nice to her? Let them think that angels have brought them food. In actual fact, YOU are the angel sent by YHWH *smile* (I've personally done this before, after much prayer, and found great joy.)

v19-20 "If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, or any poor man without covering; If his heart has not blessed me, and if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

Because my family was not so well-off when I was in secondary school, one of my Christian friends probably noticed, and he, being a school athlete, actually GAVE me his "old" Asics running shoes! For destruction from God is a terror to me, and because of His magnificence I cannot endure.

Assignment 4:
If you have been bullying your classmates/ friends, stop. Sun and moon etc. i.e. nature. E.g. Overzealous about studies (pride, anxiety), science, beauty in photography, pets etc.

Assignment 6:
Consult your parents/ youth leaders if you have made an idol of the above-mentioned e.g. spending more time with your d.o.g. more than your G.O.D., etc. ask your parents/ youth leaders what you need to change. (This will be tough, but we're praying for your growth in Christ- love God, love man *smile*)

v29-30 "If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted myself up when evil found him (indeed I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking a curse on his soul);

Have you been gloating over the misfortunes of your "enemies" in school?

Assignment 7:
TRY being nice to your "enemies" in school. Why? You may just see him/ her in heaven one day, because Jesus died for him/ her too!

If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. What will you do?

Of course, that will mean we have to be REGULAR in our bible reading. But why should we do that? I've had 3 incidents this week reminding me I must be EVER READY.

1. One afternoon, I was suddenly asked to speak to the Prefectorial Board to encourage them.
2. I was suddenly asked to give testimonies during Prayer and Praise. (There were many thanksgiving, but I had to decide which ones to share.)
3. I trust that Reuben, Gabriel and Junming had started Saturday's Youth Day worship practice with a short devotion of God's Word. If they didn't, it was my fault, because I should have arrived earlier and shared God's Word to start
the practice. Leaders point their sheep to God's Word. In the beginning was the Word (John 1:1).

As you can see, we must be EVER-READY with God's Word.

What if we don't?
You have been in church for so long ("dwell in Jerusalem"). You've heard sermons every Sunday. ("the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath..."). Does Acts 13:27 describe you? Sounds silly isn't it? True true true. But to think about it, life is really full of silliness especially when our lives go hay-wire.

In our own sight of view, we often think that we are on the right track but how often is it true? 10%? 20%? 50%? 100%? Or... 0%? Actually, we don't and never will we know what is going to happen. The only thing I believe is, only God knows what He has planned for us ahead and it is a matter whether we see it or not, if He is willing to show us.

How to know whether we see it or not?! Simple. Continually examine our attitude toward God. But how?! Well. The simplest step we learnt in the past was…"WWJD". That's right…-”What Would Jesus Do? By placing ourselves in Jesus' shoes.

Easier said than done, isn't it?!... I got to admit I'm a failure in it too but, I still try and I'm still trying.

If you are like me, still trying, then trusting in God entirely might be the best/only way to do so. It is because of that "Trusting in Him" which leads us to no clue on what He has prepared for us, it keeps us Wondering more and more, which eventually spurs us to seek the end result that He has for us.

In Luke 12:22 (take out your Bible and find out the verse!), it tells us not to Worry.

In conclusion, try to take note of your daily life. Sometimes, you might have over-planned for "A" but sort of in a Blur way,… things turn out to be "B" instead but this "B" turns out good and pleasing. It does happen to me personally. Hence, why bother to worry so much? If things turn out differently, pray and ask whether it is God's will.

In my Quiet Time, this sentence came across, "Have you been asking God what He is going to do?" HE IS THE ONE WHO DECIDES WHETHER HE WILL TELL YOU OR NOT. God does not need to tell you what He is going to do--- more often than not, He reveals to you who He is.”

Bless,
J.M

Father's day.

It's merely 2 days after father's day. Yet I feel as though it hardly existed. It got me thinking, do I only appreciate my father on father's day? What does the bible say about this?

"Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord" Colossians 3:20

Obedience, 顺服. Sounds familiar?

As Preacher Pau has mentioned on Sunday, It is not easy to be obedient at all times. But take a look at Daniel's friends and the burning furnace! It was obedience that led Daniel's friends to victory! Victory over the burning furnace!

So, we have seen the reward we receive if we obey God, how about obeying our parents?

Deuteronomy 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Longeity! Praise the Lord! I believe that if you respect and obey your parents, not only will God shower you with long life, but shower you with many blessings!

Let us give thanks today, for our parents. Our parents who have been through so much to bring us up. (try babysitting children, it's not easy) Our parents who slog to provide us with our daily needs.

After giving thanks, this is what I hope we as youths can do together. Show some concern over your parents, let them know that you love them too.

Today, try and speak to your parents for more than 10 minutes. It could start with a small question such as "Dad, how was your day?" "Mom, you just came home from work, do you want a drink?"

Or simple things like accompanying your parents for grocery shopping or walking the dog together. It is moments like these God can look at us and smile. Then this might come into our mind: why do i thank God for my food?

Sometimes when we stay in our comfort zone for too long, we fall in the danger of taking things for granted. We see the news about people in Africa, and even some of the neighboring countries such as Cambodia, where poverty is widespread, with some just living on water.

Statistics from The World Bank in 2001 shows that 1.1 billion people had consumption levels below $1 a day and 2.7 billion lived on less than $2 a day. The proportion of the developing world's population living in extreme economic poverty fell from 28 percent in 1990 to 21 percent in 2001. Looking at the period 1981-2001, the percentage of the world's population living on less than $1 per day has halved. Can anyone imagine living on $1 a day? What can we possibly buy with $1 these days.. its like one nugget (30cents) each for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

For more details, check out the link here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty

Thus, we need to think about all that we have and where it all comes from.
In the bible, there are many examples of bible characters needing, and God provided them with what they needed.

Exodus 16 & 17 - Moses brought out the Israelites out of Egypt and they complained about lack of food and water. God provided them with manna and quail and water from the rock.

1 Kings 17:1-6 - Elijah is in hiding while a famine and drought takes place; God sends ravens to feed him and a spring for his water source.

As we pray for our food to be clean and nourishing to our body, let's remember the people who prepared them, and more importantly, those who do not have a ready access to food and water.

Matthew 6:25-34 tells us not to worry as God cares for the birds of the air and lilies of the field, how much more will He provide for us, His children?

Therefore the homework for all is that when we have our meals, let's take time to pray and really thank God for all we have, acknowledging Him, the giver of all.
Write in your journals, which you'll be starting, your thoughts on remembering the people in poverty as you pray for your food.

With that, please add comments on your thoughts to this post too.

God bless and have a great week!

God bless!

Hey ppl,

GOD bless your week!

Why is our blog's display pic like that?

HEY ALL!

You guys must be wondering why our display picture is this man looking at himself in the mirror.
The theme verse for the blog is adapted from James 1:22-25

"22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. NIV

When people wake up, the first thing they do is go to the mirror to check how they look and make the necessary adjustments. Maybe its the messy hair, or the dried saliva at the cheeks; these are the many things which we all want to correct so we look fine.

That's what the passage in James 1 is talking about: where the mirror is represented by the bible, where we should check our lives, if we are living in accordance to His word. Where we see anything which is wrong according to God's law, we should immediately do the corrective action, or else as James put it, we will forget what we look like.

The intention of the blog is to challenge all of us to be like the man who constantly looks at the word of God, through the devotions and messages through videos. That way, we will be blessed in what we do.

God bless

First Post!

Hey guys!

This is our first post of many...
We'll be using this post to allow interaction, provide links for daily devotions, videos and more..
So go on and check us out frequently, better yet, bookmark us!

So check this space!
